New Arrivals

We got a Dexter Heifer a few days ago. Her name is Sweet Betsy. She is about 10 months old but is not used to0 people. We also got another goat. We have named him The Cisco Kid. He is a bore and is about 8 months. He gets tormented by the other 4 female goats, but he stays with Betsy so they don't bother him so much.

Our Horses

We have gotten all but 1 of our horses through a lady who runs a horse rescues farm. Lady is a buckskin and was our first horse. We got her at a farm auction and no one was bidding for her because her hoof was cracked from the cornet band down and bad all the way around. She still has the cracked hoof but she gets around fine for being about 25 and having arthritis in her knees.

We have 2 Morgans That both were injured as foals, they did not have the best of care and there owner was moving and could not take them. They are both easily spooked but after they get used to someone or something they calm down. Phantom has been riden but is around 20yrs old, Bubba Louie has not because of his injuries and is about 16yrs old.

Our nures mare foal is April. We got her when she was about 3 weeks old. She is now 3 yrs old and is being trained for barrels.

Flint was also a nurse mare foal but we got him when he was 6 months old. He will be 2 in Oct. We have already started to ride and work him on barrels.

Welcome to Cedar Pond Farm

I live on 15.5 acres in Central Kentucky. Right now we have 6 horses, 4 goats, 6 chickens, 3 dogs, and 17 cats. I'm looking at getting is a couple Dexter calves soon.

I want to use this blog to tell about things happening on our farm. The latest news is that I found a Dexter cattle breeder in the next county. We're going there Thursday to look at a couple calves. I'll post pictures when I get back home.

The main thing going on around here right now is planting the garden. So far we've planted corn, potatoes, beans, tomatoes, peppers, sweet potatoes, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower. My job right now is to thin out the peaches on our peach tree, so they'll get bigger.
